First Sacramento Photo-DSLR-Filmmaker Meet-Up

Published On June 28, 2010 | By Mike Carroll | DSLR

Had the first Sacramento meet-up for filmmakers to get together for a little bit, show their cameras and gear, exchange tips and ideas, and just generally see who else is out there, what we are doing and with what. Filmmaking is all about cameras and shooters are very personal about how they customize their gear.

Ten people in all braved downtown Sacramento and met-up on the Capitol steps — more than I was honestly expecting for this first venture out. Filmmakers brought a variety of camcorders, three of us had Canon 7Ds and one Canon Rebel T2i.

Fortunately the Capitol dome offered merciful shade. A good hour or so of meeting other filmmakers in the neighborhood, seeing what each other is shooting on and, for those of us with Canon camera, checking out each other’s lenses.

The pictures here and the enthusiasm on the faces tell more than I can put in words. But we all would like to spread the word and do this again — and soon. Please subscribe to this site and will keep you posted on future developments.
