Android Winter – Placerville Back Road

It seems like this site is rapidly turning into a Retro Camera photo gallery.

I just find that cameras and photography in all of their forms (film, video, digital, motion, HD, lo-res, etc.) is so exhilarating and stimulating. Anything that stimulates the creative urge is good. And if it turns out good then why leave it isolated to just your laptop photo library. Post it, show it, and maybe it will trigger some gray cells in somebody else to start looking a little closer at the world around them and take out their phone and snap a picture.

Working with KCRA reporter Tom DuHain yesterday (Saturday, March 19, 2011) on a story up in Placerville where a gasoline tanker had run off a narrow country back road, amazingly wrapping around a power line pole but not damaging it – and no electric sparks! Could have been really bad.

Walking back to the live truck I saw this scene: light, low-elevation snow covering and waning, overcast afternoon light.

As I’m driving around California I’m always looking at different places and seeing them as locations that could be set in another part of the country. These images could be in Missouri or Ohio or Colorado.

The Android Retro Camera app gives them an old-timey Old West timeless quality.
