“Breaking Into TV News” — Look Inside How To Get A Job In TV News

Breaking Into TV News became available on Amazon only just yesterday morning and by 10 AM had sold its first copy! Thank you!!!

I wrote Breaking Into TV News – How To Get A Job & Excel As A Reporter-Photographer for high school and college students. Most of the journalism interns I talk to have been interested in TV news from the time they were in high school. I would love for high school students to get their hands on this book to help give them some professional focus and preparation for what to do once they get their diplomas. This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground, hit-the-ground-running book on what you need to do to get into this business.

This book is for people who want to know what it’s like to work in local TV news, how to do the job (and I’ve been doing it for 29 years), and — most importantly — how to get a job in TV news.

Breaking Into TV News only became available on Amazon yesterday morning, and I must say from having written one previous book, this is a great looking book! It is a big-sized book, 8×10 inches and filled with full-color photographs.

(A NOTE on the size of the book: This was in order to keep costs down — NOT to make the book more expensive. I’d originally designed the book for a 7×9 inch size, but it was going to have a much higher page count and would have, due to individual printing costs, had to be priced at nearly $60! By using larger sized paper and being able to condense more on the page, this size worked out to be the most affordable.)

Since the book is so new on Amazon, many of the Amazon features will not be showing up for several days or weeks, such as a complete description of the book and a “Look Inside” feature so that you can read portions of the book before committing to a purchase.

I believe it is so important for students who want to get into the business to get this book — not because I wrote it, but because I want them to get current information on what they need to do & how-to-do-it in order to get jobs in TV news — I am posting my own “Look Inside” feature here.

These are a few pages from the chapter “Internships” and pages from the Table of Contents so that you can see exactly what is covered in the book and why it will be so useful to you.

When I buy a book I always say, “If I can learn one thing from this book that I didn’t know before, it will have been worth it.” I can confidently promise you that Breaking Into TV News has much, much more information on its pages than almost any other book on the subject out there.
