In the second of what is going to be 3-Parts, here is the story that ran on KCRA-3’s Common Ground magazine show on Saturday, November 20, 2013.

The story was shot during my week-and-a-half of vacation in the middle of October. I shot this on my Canon 7D because I wanted to do some shooting to learn a bit more about DSLR filmmaking.

DSLR stories are everywhere on the web and reading them you’d get the impression that they are so much simpler to shoot than the old way of shooting with a one-piece camera that has built-in XLR jacks for audio. Let me tell you—it’s NOT!!!!

DSLR is significantly more complicated. Shooting documentary in DSLR is way more complicated. And shooting news with a DSLR is almost insane!!

Mike filming Daisy Mah

I am going to elaborate on this in detail, the process of filming the story featured here about Daisy Mah and what I have learned about the filming process. It is a constant challenge.

Shall try to get that out in the next few days. Until then, thanks for checking out this story.
