Christmas Day, 2011 – Unfortunate Events & Personal Reflections On Journalism

Christmas Day, December 25, 2011 I’ve really been looking forward to this Christmas Day. It’s one of those rare Christmas Days where I actually have the day off. News is a 7-day-a-week business and Christmas is just another day. With the exception that you get paid double-time. My schedule is Tuesday-Saturday. Christmas came on a Sunday this year so I’m at home with wife Bonnie and the kids—Alex and Ava, our two greyhounds, and Lucky and Tanner, two greyhounds that we’re fostering. Next year, 2012, is a leap year so in 366 days Christmas will fall on a Tuesday—and...

Bonnie’s Greyhounds – My Wife’s New Site On The Web

Bonnie’s Greyhounds – My Wife’s New Site On The Web

My wife Bonnie’s passion for our greyhounds Alex and Ava, and for our first greyhound Lola, is so full and deep. She has fallen head over heels for this breed. Now that she is fully retired she has taken to sharing her time to fostering greyhounds that need a little bit more socialization (and manners) before they can be adopted into their forever homes. She has written beautiful and lengthy e-mail updates about the progress of these dogs, as well as anecdotes about antics that our pair will do, and many times these tales have wound up in the...

Morning Light & Color – Walking Hollywood Park

Morning Light & Color – Walking Hollywood Park

As much as I’d like to stay in bed and keep warm on these increasingly chillier autumn mornings, duty calls. In this case, walking the dogs. As I’ve posted in the past, for those who’ve been following this site, my wife Bonnie and I have two retired greyhounds, Alex and Ava, ages 5 and 7 respectfully. They led lives as working dogs so retirement has not come easily to them. So every morning they rise with the sun and need to go to work, meaning one of us has to throw on some clothes and head out the door...

Occupy Wall Street – Occupy Philadelphia

Occupy Wall Street – Occupy Philadelphia

The Occupy Wall Street movement is now going into its second month. It’s getting colder and wetter out side so it will be a test of their endurance through the winter months. But I think they’ve sparked some nerves that many Americans have been feeling about the disproportionate bonuses of corporate CEOs are recieving. Especially if they slash thousands of workers from the payroll citing financial reasons, then are awarded $20-30 million dollar bonuses in cash and stock. That doesn’t happen in other countries–and it shouldn’t be happening here. I think this movement will be making its voice heard...

Walking Philadelphia–A Photographer On Vacation

Walking Philadelphia–A Photographer On Vacation

This is my first effort at posting a photo gallery or slideshow, so please be tolerant. I’ll probably have to try this a couple times till I can get it right — or, at least, to fake it decently. Bonnie and I just returned from a visit to Philadelphia where her daughter Lori Foxworth (star of our film Nightbeats) and our grandson Sam now live. They have a five year old golden retriever named Shelby, who needs to be walked a couple times a day. If I’m visiting somewhere and there’s a dog, you can almost bet money that...
